Leisure interests

My interests outside of work are varied, below are a selection...

Hillwalking. I enjoy walking whether gentle country walks around London or, preferably, longer walks in the Alps, Wales, England or elsewhere. Some of my most interesting walks of recent years have been: the high Alpine Pass Route in Switzerland from Sargans to Montreaux undertaken in two tranches, Sargans to Grindelwald and then Grindelwald to Montreaux; Picos de Europa in Spain; Pyrenees in France/Spain.
Around London there are plenty of great walks in Surrey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and on the Dorset coast and in the New Forest.

Eating. Well, we all have to eat. It's great fun trying new restaurants and returning to old favourites. At the moment Spanish tapas is a particular favourite.  I have been fortunate to try some Michelin 3-star restaurants but I am equally happy trying a £10 per head place too. It's great to visit Borough Market to buy food to cook and eat. Sunrise in the mountains outside of Lucerne, Switzerland, February 2007. Photo: Michael Pritchard

Cinema. In the absence of a television I love the cinema. I miss some, not all, of the Hollywood blockbusters in preference for foreign language, art house and smaller budget films.  My lists page shows recent films seen. The Curzon Soho remains my favourite cinema both for the physical space and for the type of films it shows. Lucerne. February 2007. Photo: Michael Pritchard
