Photography

Photography has been a major part of my life since I was eleven years old.

I worked part-time at Greville Studios for many years at weekends and during school and university vacations. The studio is now closed but it was formerly Watford's leading commercial and portrait studio and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity Ivor and Richard Greville gave me. While there I learnt many skills ranging from studio and location photography, and black and white darkroom work, using all formats from 35mm and medium format through to large-format. At Christie's these skills continued to be put to good use through some basic studio photography for auction catalogues using digital equipment.

As a volunteer I also undertake fine art photography for Bushey Museum recording their fine art collection of pictures, watercolours and drawings as well as some 3D objects for record and publication purposes. This work is mainly undertaken temporary space which presents it's own challenges. I also do the occasional freelance work mainly to illustrate articles and this ranges from building exteriors and interiors and in situ portraits.

Away from formal photographic work my personal photography mostly concentrates on landscape and cityscapes. Digital has reinvigorated my interest and enthusiasm for practical photography.
