I was a photographic specialist at
Christie's the international fine art
auction house based in South Kensington, London from 1986-2007.
Following a strategic review the company decided to close its collectors'
departments and, along with a number of other colleagues, I was
made redundant in August 2007.
During my career at Christie's I grew the department from a turnover of £200,000 to £2 million at its peak and held the world auction record for a camera and numerous other auction records during this time. Alongside my specialist role I was also Head of Collectors, a Director and auctioneer.
I am currently undertaking some limited
consultancy on two one-off projects through to early 2008 and am undertaking
a full-time PhD looking at aspects of British photographic history. |
